Try the Grouper Reuben - a unique surprise. Two friends and I were working on a Saturday project, so we mentioned going out for a meal. We decided on a place that I had never been, the "Coastal Ale House".

On walking into the Coastal Ale House, it felt like being in Hawaii again. We were greeted by several employees, and we chose to sit at the bar. Above the bar, there is a wicker fan that has multiple fans working in tandem from one motor by creative use of cams, very cool. The murals, patio and balcony gave the feeling of openness. The dark wood gave a real homey feeling to the place.

The waitress took our drink orders, and they had my favorite on tap. The menu had a wide variety of possibilities: appetizers; soups; salads; sandwiches; wraps; pastas; about 16 Entrees; desserts and sides. You will have to go there to see them all, but they have a Filet Mignon for $19.95.

My mind was on soup and sandwich. New England clam chowder is one of my favorites. Many places do not make it good! The waitress said it was the special soup for the day, it made me wonder if I was in for a treat. The Clam Chowder was excellent.

Three sandwiches appealed, Grouper, Reuben, and what Coastal Ale House calls ?Grouper Reuben?. Use a little imagination put Reuben and Grouper together in your mind ? it could be a delicious sandwich. They will cook the Grouper: Grilled; Blackened; Broiled; or Fried. My Grouper Reuben was Grilled with a side of Cole Slaw.

The sandwich was nicely presented on the plate with a large helping of Cole, which was without question the best, perfect to go with the sandwich. Ah, the Grouper Reuben ? cooked to perfection, covered with Reuben sauce ? my imagination of how this would taste was exceeded. What a great sandwich, from a cool restaurant with really good atmosphere. I highly recommend Coastal Ale House be put on your list of places to go to eat while you are in Myrtle Beach, or Conway. Bring some good friends, kick back and enjoy.
