Seafood Restaurant on the Marsh of the Low Country – Ambiance was great. 200 year old building on the salt marsh and inland water way. The floors are wood slanted and uneven. The view of the marsh is beautiful. Our meal took over 2 hours. The inside area which is airconditioned requires reservations. The porch which is non airconditioned and unscreend does not. We (4 adults) were there 06-17-07. The main dinning room was not crowded but since we did not have a reservation were seated on the porch. Temperature was in 70's and acceptable. We were seated close to seven o'clock and were under a over hanging floor with ceiling fan and light. It was comfortable. There was plenty of day light left for dinner or so we thought. It was nearly a 1/2 hour before our server came to the table. This set the tone for the whole evening, everything....salads.....and dinner was extremely slow. As dusk fell the mosquitos came out and we became the menue. The main dinning room was almost empty! The broiled seafood platter came swimming in a butter seasoned broth and everything tasted the same! The crab cakes for this area were unacceptable, more stuffing than crab. All in all a very unpleasant dinning experience. For a restuarant that has been serving over 40 years, I expected a lot better.
